That is a lot of steps to document.
Holy crap this is exciting. You gonna powdercoat?
Step 1: Unpack and organize yo crap!

Step 2: Send pictures to reputable powder coat shops in town and resist the urge to "just slap some spray paint on it".

These are the parts that need coating. Ben usually pays $200-225 for the front and $350 for the rear, so I'm waiting to hear back from 2 shops that will hopefully be in that range.

Did you order the 8020 bare so you can coat them matching? Or are you going to just roll with them however they show up?

Curious how much the center section of the front bumper weight versus the wings.

I ask as I'm toying with the idea of building a hybrid bumper with just the center section.

That was quick, thank you! That's much lighter than I imagined. I assume this is the aluminum front bumper?

@radman we're counting on you to put all this stuff on the scale!

and hurry up, so we can start getting this bumper shipped. I'll start saving my pennies now. . .

@benc gives all the weights of his bumpers, skids, and sliders here;

When you factor in the weights of what you are removing you add very little weight when you go with his stuff.

This almost turned into a "how to Plasti-Dip your Dissent" thread.
First few shops quoted me over $1200, which I feel was just a cop-out. Maybe they got overwhelmed by 70+ pieces?

Found a small shop that quoted $500-575, so I'm about to haul everything over there today.

While I waited for quotes, I started sanding some of the edges that I knew would be visible/ high-traffic. Not sure how forgiving the powder would have been, but looks a little better now.

Man for that why not see if someone will anodize it?
I know the 8020 t-bar is anodized, but not familiar with how it compares to powder coat. $500-575 is the range Ben pays in CA, so that was my initial point of reference.

Edit: just used the googles and found out that steel cannot be anodized.

yup but you could on the aluminum - might be able to find a place given that crazy cost.

I have been thinking this too. Ever since that hidden winch thread started 2-3 weeks ago.
I was thinking something like the 4Runner.

sorry- off topic- just had to write it.

Looking for opinions on powder sheen.
Ben usually has everything covered with "satin" black, and @Eric Sarjeant, went Semi-gloss (60%) on the 3xLocked Beast. Apparently, they are equally durable; however, the satin hides scratches better. What would you do on a black rig? I'm leaning towards semi-gloss

here's @1world1love's freshly cleaned satin:

here's the semi-gloss:
