What a Great time at King of the Hammers 2020, Justin and the Rusty Nail Racing family are amazing people to be involved with. We were camping for 10 days and enjoyed some nice weather here and there LOL. Now we will spend the next 7 months getting ready for October and the NORRA 500. I have received some emails and messages from various vendors wanting to get on board with this project and looks like we are all set. As the build of the 45 goes I will post up all those involved.

Good times

Oh I forgot while doing some running at some killer speeds LOL drivers side motor mount broke shifted the engine and took out 3 of the 6 blades on the fan. we limped back to camp and did some trail repairs my buddy Bob @brooksfj60 came out with a stock fan blade the next day to keep us going

Well I need to start making decision's. If you havnt heard the NORRA 1000 in April was cancelled due to the issues going on in the world and moved to October instead of the NORRA 500. Another 500 miles added to the dream Baja trip in a 45. Folks like Justin Reece @RustyNailJustin , Valley Hybrids @orangefj45 , 4 PLUS products, KC Hedlites and Skys Off Road, Kurt at Cruiser Outfitters have all chipped in to make this happen. My buddy Bob @brooksfj60 and other local Toyota Brothers and sisters are waiting for me to pulled the trigger Drive the 45 1000 miles in Baja. I am still working on logistics and lodging that's the biggest thing holding me back. In the next month I should have a go or no go

Well the NORRA 500 was cancelled in order to move the NORRA 1000 to October because of everything that's going on in the World. That being said I am Happy to Announce We will be preparing our 1967 FJ45 Rusty Nail Chase truck for the NORRA 1000 Safari class run. I want to Thank Justin Reece for allowing us the Honor to run 4619 on the 45. We have had a ton of support and sponsorships coming in. We are focused on keeping this in the tradition of Rusty Nail racing. Have Fun and make some memories Guess were going to have to get some new stickers LOL

back-in-the-day-....1-1.jpeg

...we drove the Baja....
..........in a 4x4 born in the USA............ no hurry...... we took the time.

Don`t hurry take your time.
;)

....hired the car in Tijuana gave it back in Cabo San Lucas.
Took the plane to Los Angeles another plane back to Frankfurt/Main * and one more to Duckburg.
You couldn't rent a car in the USA and driver it over the Mexican border.

No hotels or similar on the Baja booked in advance .
We could decide where we stay a little bit longer.... if we want...... when we continue etc.
We always travel like this.............:)

What does the Eiffel Tower have to do with the Baja California? ......
Gustav Eiffel : Gustave Eiffel - Wikipedia

........Santa Rosalia, Baja California .
Gustave Eiffel memorial plaque at the Metal Church Santa Rosalia.

* the city where Johann Wolfgang von Goethe was born ( free imperial city of Frankfurt) me too. ;)

With everything going on in the World I am taking this time to start prepping a few things for the 45. I got this trans and T case combo from @BenjaminCA I started yesterday cleaning and checking everything out. I am really impressed all the gears look Great no chips or cracks. The trans in the 45 now has really taking a beating over the years and this is going to be perfect. I will be contacting @orangefj45 at Valley Hybrids for new gaskets and seals soon. The whole truck is going to be getting a complete going over from the motor to a new late model front disk brake axle upgrade, springs and hangers. As we progress I will post up more pictures and those helping to make this happen. Its going to be a long process.

Rob have you considered parabolics for the front? Westralia Springs does them and they're $650 for the fronts only landed in Sydney. I could help get them to Cali for ya. You'd also need some large eye shackles, pins etc - I'm sure Paul Read has a bunch.

Time for some updates. Finished up the Trans and T case since I was off for a few weeks. Big shout to Valley Hybrids for sending down the gasket and seal kits. A couple of Before and after pictures. Also I want to start Thanking our Sponsors for helping out with parts and support. Dave at 4 Plus sent us a U bolt flip kit after we install the new springs. I dont want to get to far ahead for the build so as I get things rebuilt and installed we will point out those helping out. I pulled the intake/exhaust and started cleaning up the engine, Also pulled the seats and trans hump.

We have had a nice couple of weeks and things are coming together. Cleaned up the intake and exhaust before reinstalling. Finished up the carb rebuild and working on cleaning up the wiring and engine compartment. Justin got the SKY's Off Road springs down to me last week. Right now I am focused on getting the motor, trans and T case dialed in then we can start working on the suspension.
