Since Pappy, Pyro-boy and I will be spending Thanksgiving on the White Rim trail next week, figured I'd start a thread on some food ideas. No Pappy, we're NOT having pop tarts and oatmeal :flipoff2: Canyonland doesn't allow camp fires so all cooking will be done on stoves. I'm not a huge fan of turkey so I'd love to hear some alternative dishes that we could cook in advance and heat up on the trail.

Go to el modelo and get yourself some Tamales with red. Oh yeah. Or make your own...

Ham, scalloped potatoes, Premade stovetop stuffing.. . how gourmet are you looking to get?

I always cure my own ham. I can't eat bird meat. And nobody in my house likes it anyway. We do ham for Thanksgiving and prime rib for Christmas.

Costco roasted chickens $4.99 a pop to take with.

Remove flat rocks from camp fire after they have warmed up nicely, place foiled pre-cooked food between rocks to warm.

Send pix please.

no camp fires allowed.
