Looks like it had a questionable restoration. #SprayAndPray

Just a few things that jump out at me:

  • The anti-inversion shackles are installed incorrectly
  • The lock cylinders are aftermarket (and owner has no working keys)
  • The antenna is aftermarket
  • Holes were drilled into the roof to install the crossbars
  • There's no spare
  • The oil pan looks like hammered dog s***
  • It looks due for a knuckle rebuild
  • No shots documenting the engine swap
  • Few shots documenting the repaint

It also looks like the truck was used hard, and then money was spent in the "flashy" areas to make it look good in photos - Repaint, upholstery, window tint, chrome wheels, aftermarket headlights, mudflaps, fender flares, exhaust tip, etc are all relatively cheap compared to what the truck actually needs - thorough mechanical maintenance.

Overall it looks like the (previous) owner(s) made poor choices on the modifications and maintenance of the truck. The fit and finish of the engine swap is also questionable.

Central American junk box. Plan on $20K on the backside un-f***ering it.
That’s why I like you - straight to the point.

This is why I love this forum. In the market for a 70's series and recently learned of these CA/SA "restorations" to steer clear from.
Obviously not pulling the trigger until I research these into oblivion.
