Help me diagnose this issue.
Has the temp sensor gone bad?
PHH?

The shakiness is just rough roads of Chicago.
I've got a P0401 code too so not sure if the EGR has something to do with it?

what year is your truck??

Plug in a reader into your obd port and see what the actual temp reading is.

Your wire is loose on the sensor or the sensor is bad. Looks like the wire may be grounding out do it could also be a striped or melted coating on the wire.

Do simple first and check to make sure it is securely connected.

just get an aftermarket koso gauge or OBDII scanner and be done with...the stock gauge is just for soccer mom's peace of mind...

This. Check the wire/connector at the sensor and the main harness where it passes the EGR pipe, should be supported away from the hot pipe.

Thanks, will check this afternoon.

Temp sensor wire was indeed damaged. Not sure how, but will have to get it replaced.
Working fine now though. Might consider a scangauge install ;)

Most times it's from the harness not being properly tied in place. The harness moving around, causes wire(s) to get broken, pulled out of connectors, etc.

Consider UltraGauge OBDII Scan tool and Information Center
