So, I just put a '79 2F motor into my '69 FJ40 and I notice that the temp gauge is kinda working backwards. Could it just be the sending unit? Anyone ever hear of this? I did not mess with the gauges at all. There is a different type of connector on the units, '69 has the "mushroom" looking type while the '79 is a typical spade type. Also, the chassis and body are both grounded.

Did it work correclty prior to the engine swap?

Tried the old sending unit?

:meh:

Yes it did, always registered correctly. I just took the sending unit and extension/riser out of the old F head and installed on the 2F. the F unit is quite a bit longer than the 2F, we'll see what happens in the morning when I heat it up. I put a new thermostat in it so I need to wait for the sealant to dry.
