Tapping noise at cold start up… (1 Viewer)

Howdy all!

Have a 2006 lx with 200k on it and the past 2 days at cold start up only I get a crazy tap knocking sound per the video attached. After 2 min, the noise goes away and all works perfect.

The audio in your file didn’t work for me but the likely cause would be exhaust manifold leak.

Did you chase down this problem? That's weird, almost sounds like something lightweight it getting slapped by the belt or fan. Will have to take the belt off and get in for a closer look. Once the belt is removed, start the engine and see if the noise goes away to help narrow it down.

Yep it was weird. Happened twice and never again.

Gotta love the magic fixes. Yeah it didn't really sound like any common part failure. More like some kind of debris or something.

It might pay to just pop a flashlight in there and make sure nothing is close to contacting the fan or belt.
