What siize tap do I need for the tranismission to bellhousing, and where did you get it. Thanks

12 x 1.25 mm. If it is stripped, you can just thread in a 1/2 inch fine thread SAE bolt and it will hold.

They are not stripped, just want to clean them up a little if that makes sense.

If it is a 3 speed it has a 13mm x 1.5 pitch.

It is a 3 speed for my 71 40.

Next question where to find them?

Harbor freight or tool king have sets that work well if you need to clean up existing threads. They are kinda crappy if you are going to cut new threads. The Ace Hardware by my place sells individual taps. You might try your local hardware store if it's pretty well stocked.

Hey Mike - I dont think the chaser you need is in this tool kit, but pencil it in for a treat to yourself on Dad's day.

Amazon.com: Kastar Hand Tools (KAS971) 48 pc. SAE & Metric Thread Restorer Kit: Home Improvement

I use it all the time and unlike a regular tap, it really just realigns/cleans the threads. I chased 99% of the holes with this set when I re-did my 77. There are a few odd ones like the 13 X 1.5 that is mentioned here. The head bolts are another strange one that needs a traditional tap of unusual spec.

Hope you are well.

Dave

Thanks Dave I'll check this out. All is well thanks for asking. I hope everything is going good for you and yours also.

Mike-

I'll do that, It'll be a while. Just doing some long range planning thanks Steve
