Got the 35x10x15 kanati mud hogs mounted up on Saturday. Drove the 40 in to the shop to work on my car trailer today. Some more stats:
Fj40 15” welded steel wheels with 33x10.5 Dick Cepek mud terrains: just over 70 lbs.
Same fj40 wheels with the kanati mud hog 35x10: just under 80lbs.
Installed photos. I now realize these are kind of poor with the truck being in the shade of a tree. One note, and it may just be because these tires are brand new, but they are super quiet. No howl or hum can be heard at all over the noise of the air moving past the open cab.
Truck is sitting on SOR lift springs with what looks like factory length shackles.

Looks fantastic, I wish I could get that size in the G003 here in Aus, best I "might" be able to get is a Nitto in the same size, or I might get stuck with 295/70R17's.

Yeah that sucks. I really like this size. Big enough but still looks like a skinny. The 255s looks a little too small on my 74, especially with the soft top.
Maybe they will bring that down in the future to aus.
Still waiting for the correct rims to mount these tires on. The other 6 tires are still in transit so opted to use a temporary spare tire for the mean time.
7.50 R16C Michelin XZL for the 1974 FJ40 Build and 1982 BJ40. Despite all the lackluster performance review for the XZL aside from being tough and robust, I think it fits the bill for my stock'o period correct-ish 40 builds. I was going to get Bridgestone Mighty Rib or the equivalent Yokohama Rib tires which I understand are the factory offered tires but most current ones are ranging from 12 to 14ply rating which I'm not very keen on with the already stiff riding springs on the oem fj40 springs.

I left them at 19 psi all week at SAS and they performed great. No complaints. I only have ~3,500 miles on them so far.
Ended up ordering 285 75 17 Nittos, 34''s, Probably will use 17x8 -22 Steel wheels. Will post up in ~20 weeks when they get here.
Wonder what these would look like on a 60?

Bought another 235 85r 16 "extra grip" recap from tirecappers to replace the one where I cut the sidewall on a rock running 12 PSI on The relic run in uwharrie. The cut tire will go to spare duty. These tires continue to be awesome on slippery clay mud, rocks, and in the woods. I drive conservatively in my LC and haven't had any issues on wet pavement with these tires. They are loud and I don't think you'd get 50,000 miles out of them 35000 probably. For less than$130 with free shipping they're still a good deal depending on what you want.
