I had both a BFG KO2 and a Maxxis Razr side by side off the vehicle, both on wheels with 30 psi. Both tires brand new. The BFG was less than 1/2" shorter when putting a straight edge on them. I am not sure but the weight of the vehicles may play a factor when measuring. I mounted both of them on the 40 to see which one I liked best. I am putting together a small tire wheeler. I did not get a pic of the side by side. I should be able to get a pic next week when my tires come in. I had to put the other one back on a customers 40.

BTW I ordered up a set of the Maxxis!

I hope you don’t mind my asking, what is a small tire Wheeler ? A chart ? It’s early !

And oh !...this sounds INSANE loved the pics, right down to the floor colors ! ( kinda into colors ! )

My Ultra4 race car has one ton axles and 40" sticky Maxxis Treps. Lockers front and rear. This will be a "small" tire wheeler compared to that one. It currently has a LSD in the front but I am going to swap it to the rear and have an open diff front. I will do the "bunny" slopes wth this one and have a 8274 to pull me out of anything I many get hung up on. I do not want to rock crawl with this one, just bounce around the trails in a almost stock 40...

The 33x10.50 KM2 is 31.5” on 60 wheel at 32psi
The KM3 is 30.5” same wheel and pressure

The Maxxis is 32.5” at same pressures.

Lots of difference

You guys keep using the word tall... I do not think it means what you think it means.

Notice I put it in quotes. But this is a Land Cruiser discussion for the most part. I also think more people are looking for the skinny part.

Only Interco makes a real tall skinny but man, those things ride so bad.

Nolan,
Did you measure these on or off the vehicle?

Measured my 235/85-16 Yokohama’s on 16” City Racer wheels.

Those 255X85X16’s Yokohama G003’s are just a tad over 10 inches in width....correct ? I like the aggressive look.... My build is unorthodox so I “needs” the skinny’s. But sure would like 35’s, (not in the Super Swampers.)

I wasn't trying to single you out. It's just interesting how this thread has evolved. I may just bite the bullet and buy some TSL SX2 in 37x12x17 and deal with the bias ply.

I've been talking with a tire manufacturer recently, and they are considering making a tall/skinny overland type tire...the old Super Swamper Q78s were my baseline.

First, whats the "ideal" size? I'm thinking a 36x10.5 on a 17" wheel....but that also means finding narrower 17" wheels...hhmmm

Also, an agressive mud terrain, an all terrain, or one of the newer crossover patterns? I'm leaning crossover myself...

Looking for input, would be a 2018 size release.

So @woody , where is our 36x10.50r17? :flipoff2:

38x11 Boggers or go home

I've been impressed with my 35x10-16 SX2's, they do get flat spots from sitting but seem to run out pretty quick. I run 8 oz's of balance beads in them and don't really notice anything out of the ordinary compared to my 37x12.50r17 Falken MT's with 10 oz of bb's. The SX2 in a 37x12-16 or 17 are definitely going to be my next tire unless I score a better deal or a manufacturer gives us a better choice.

I will chime in that my BFG KM3 are nice and skinny. I have 35x12.5x15 on 8.5” wide rims and mounted on the truck they are 34” tall with an actual tread width of 9.5”

“Volunteer”..to send us a pic of them “bad babies !” So we can have a look see...:bounce:
