Talk me out of 305/65/18s... instead of 285/70/18s

That mod is more of a mod on the newer 100s - the charcoal canister is in the way - needs to be relocated to do lift the spare. But, that does raise (sorry) the point... a 305 spare puts the sidewall even closer to the ground.
Guess it time to finally get a Dissent Rear bumper then.

Or maybe just assume that the 10ply KO2 would never get a puncture and don't run a spare, save yourself 100lbs and some money :D

FX- I will say I saw two different trucks with KO2s with sidewall punctures at HIH last year on the same trail. They're tough but not immune. If you wheel your rig, having a spare is absolutely necessary ( regardless of the brand or model of tire).

yah i was kidding, no way i'd hit the trail without a spare.

I just looked up pricing on K02 305/65-18 +\- $316 ea-

Makes buying that 5 tire a little painful

For that very reason, i'm just going to buy a used one in case of emergency, found one for 99 shipped on eBay, decent tread left. I won't be driving on it long so hopefully no drivetrain damage, just enough to get me to a repair center so i can get back on the road.

My 06 was my daily and didnt have to do any trail duty so I didn’t run a matching spare. I did however run a 285/75/17 (ST Maxx 34.06x11.1)in the spare tire location on my LX.

Wait... These things fit in the spare tire well? How??

Ah... This was my conundrum with the later model truck. I guess I need to search the canister relocation. I've already sold the spare tire winch, though :rolleyes:

FWIW, Nolen is running 305s and loves them - that will be my next tire after these 285s wear out...

Yes, it’s true. A few of your tires used to ride under my LX. The trick you ask? Hitch Delete;)

FX- this is pre-lift right?

Agree

1.5" lift over stock

Fender to floor is now 38.5" in the rear, 37.75" in the front on high mode...not sure what others measure but that's mine, also beat down on the pinch weld and it no longer rub.

Most measure from hub center to lip of fenderwell. Or top edge of rim to fenderwell.

hub center to lip of fenderwell is standard.

Standard? According to whom?

I personally prefer to know the ground to fender lip number/change instead of just the suspension lift.

According to this forum. Check the FAQ.

Ok then.
Ive always felt measuring off the hub center to be slightly more vague. The ground is the ground.
