Hi LC Friends-

I noticed a couple of days ago my 91 FJ80 tailgate was missing the bolt for attaching the hinge to the tail gate was missing. (Pic below) Upon further investigation, I bought the bolt thinking I could just screw it back in but it seems that nut to screw into is missing.

Does anyone know if this nut is replaceable? As I am having trouble finding it.

Thanks!

You have a larger problem!!! Somebody went off the crazy train and stuck a piece of glass into your lower tailgate!

I believe it is the 4Runner conversion package.

I'm curious where you got the shoulder bolt. Toyota does not sell them.

There is a captive nut inside the gate. If that is stripped you will have to weld a new one in.

Funny, other day while washing Bella I noticed all those bolts where loose, thinking "what da?" Tightened them all up and now good as new, glad I didn't lose one.

Good news! I have reattached the arm by placing a new nut (I did not weld it on, just used a self locking nut) inside the gate and then just tightening it down. It was pretty simple since the gate has an access panel. The nut was a M-8 if anyone needs to get one!

And pics to prove I indeed do not have 4 runner window :)
