lights on hdj81

I have an hdj81 on order and should have it in my hands by the end of the month. What is the deal with all the lights. The headlights are switched to ones off a NA cruiser so they are dot/sae compliant. The tail lights have a DOT on them so are they legal? What about the front clear turn signals and on the fender(side marker) they dont have DOT but have some E codes. Does anybody know if those are equivalent to to dot standards here. Whats all the news about the engineering report and what does it encompass and which vehicles are included. Any info would be helpful. cheers

if they doubt it tell them to get off their fat asses and call mike for confirmation. i have no time for lazy paper pushing inspection facilities.

There is nothing that I know of yet on the e-code lamps being approved in BC. It seems to depend on who you talk to. On the no side, they are saying, yes some NAM vehicles have e-coded lamps but their manufacturer had to show they met Canadian standards for each model. The Japanese manufacturers have not shown that each model meets our standards. In addition they are saying that e-code lenses do not have the reflective qualities of DOT or SAE coded lenses. If your vehicle is from Japan and has e-coded light, it should also have the JIS approved lamps and lenses. One of our group had expected to hear from Mike Woods this week. Check out IVOAC.COM for news on this, as it will be posted there when we have written confirmation. For now, write your MP and MLA using the information on IVOAC, specifically the report released last week. The more letters the better.
Cheers, John

OK,,
Where are we with this.
I have examined my tail lights again and find the circle with a line over it and some in the circle.. Is this the JIS code symble??
If it is and they are approved now in Canada where do I find that in unquestionable writing??

as usual it is hurry and wait with TC...
we are supposed to get the news "soon" that was 2 weeks ago...
patience my friend...
