Is this a factory box? Or was it added on? If factory, how big is the box inside?

Could be an aftermarket cover. Looks like a nice product.
I know my 2007 had an open storage box in that location.
    Don't know the dimensions.

Appears to be factory 2005-2015. Numbers 10 and 11.

I wonder how those composite internal beds are holding up now that they've been around for a good 10 years.

That’s a factory box - I had one in my 2009 Offroad before it was totaled. There is a little storage cubby on the other side. I still have a lock kit for that bed cover and the underseat storage unit if anyone needs it.

Any idea how deep it is/was?

Wasn't super deep (maybe as deep a soda can is tall). I only kept rope and tie downs in there as they are common targets for theft.

I measured (approx) 13 3/4 wide, 4 1/2", 5 1/2 deep. The container appears to tapper toward the back. Hope that helps and hope to go fiddlin around looking for plants soon!

Also be aware on the TRD trim levels of the Tacoma the passenger side bin is replaced by and AC inverter
