So I finally get to tearing into the transfer case and find that both rear ouput shaft bearings are bad(front and rear). In sourcing them I find that the rear bearing of the rear shaft is easy to get but it seems that the front bearing is actually two seperate pieces(bearing and race). I can find the race but am having trouble finding the bearing. Doea anyone know where I can get this in vancouver asap. I am using a buddys shop and would like to get it out of there as fast a possible.

how bouts just a part number?

I chose not to get a kit because when I first got the truck after about 3 months I had the main t case seal blow out from a plugged vent.

Being new to the landcruiser I chose to take it to toyota for them to fix the problem. When they had the t-case open they replaced the idler shaft as well as the idler shaft bearings and all gaskets so I thought I would just pickup new gaskets and the new bearing that are needed.

In hindsight I should have done this myself as It is now only 40K since they fixed the gasket and I am now in there replacing all the bearings that they didn't. I'm not saying they should have replaced them but the amount of wear and the fact I am religious in the changing of gear oil I highly doubt this was a problem that has come up only in the last 40K. I think they were just too lazy to press them off the output shaft. I also had a look at my receipt from toyota and they charged me for all the gaskets for a complete teardown including removing the 4wd actuator. In taking it apart I realized that all the gaskets that they charged me for were actually from one tube of red rtv silicone. Now I know that the silicone will work but they charged me somewhere around 50 buck for gaskets but never used any.

I saw that BBD but am having trouble deciphering.

yeah, I posted it well after the rebuild and did not document which was which. Did you clean your old bearings and look for a number on them? A bearing shop should be able to use a vernier to measure the bearing and find one to suit.I recently bought some ceiling fan bearings this way LOL turned out the same size as the 2H spigot bearing but had the high speed seal on them.

Thats what I thought crushers. In ordering the bearings one of them I was able to use just the number from the race and got a match for a complete bearing(race and cage), but in the other one I ordered the bearing off of the race and was informed that the race number was only for the race and not for the cage as well. So I press off the bearing and call with the number and they had trouble crosss referencing it. I am hoping I can go to toyota in the am and get one so that this can be fixed asap.

The bearing number will be on the side of the bearing and on the side of the cone . can you post a picture of the bearing and I will look at some of my old bearings. I do not have them all as I gave some bearings and gears to a guy that was in trouble with a wrecked box and just started a family.I cant remember which was which and my computer is down am using my son's old one. cheers.
