T-56 Transmission with a Chevy 5.3 gen 3?

Hello I was wondering if a T-56 6 speed tranny could marry with a chevy 5.3 gen 3 engine? I was looking to do this I could possibly get a few more mpgs with a 6 speed on my fj40.

Howdy! The good news is that it has double overdrive and it was used in a lot of GM applications. The bad news is that for most apps, the first gear ratio is really high, around 2.60. Check Wikipedia for a nice list of apps and gear ratios. John

The T 56 has two overdrives, one around 0.70, and the other at 0.50. Way more than a 4L80E.

Lots of older rigs used remote transfer cases. The used a very short drive shaft between the transmission land that. Usually done on long bed pickups. John
