I'm installing my CB sometime in the next few days. Anyone have a SWR meter and a coax cable with the right connections that I could borrow to tune my antennae?

Yep.

cool... i may have to try and get it installed before I come to your house on saturday so I can just do it on the spot!!!

Mine needs to be tuned as well. Probably can't make it Saturday though. Will try for another time hopefully.

Jon - Can you bring it Sunday?

I have a SWR tuner also in case anyone needs to borrow one! Just make sure that your antenna ground is properly grounded/bonded to the vehicle! I'd hate for you guys to trim your antenna tip to obtain favorable SWR readings when your RF ground is poor to begin with! Lots of info on the web regarding proper antenna/RF grounding.

My antenna is attached to a mount on my tailgate hinge. I think I may take it off and do a little more sanding before I am ready to tune it. I actually still need to run the coax to it anyway... the access hole that I planned to use may not be a reality so I will have to find a new way to run the coax to the rear of the vehicle. Shouldn't be a problem, but I will let you know when I'm ready for the meter. Thanks guys!!!

Hey CT,
I just finished installing a Cobra 75WX into my FJC. I've visited the FJCruiserForums for inspiration. I ended up cutting a small slit into the rubber wire protector that connects the back door to the body and feeding the antenna wire into that slit and snaking it into the tire jack compartment and under the paper/rubber/unknown material beneath the rear seats. From there I removed the center console and made a "plug" roughly the dimension of one of the "blank" buttons in the instrument panel where the ATAC, Rear Diff buttons are located. I installed the receiving end of the antenna into that "plug". I did not take any pictures as it was d@mn cold out for careful documentation so please bear with my "thousand word" description. ;)

When it gets warmer there are a few items I want to "clean" up. First is to silicone the slit in the rubber. Second I want to make a better "plug" I ended up gluing three pieces of a peg board material together to get the thickness that I wanted. Third the next generation plug needs to have a better friction fit to avoid inadvertently pulling the plug out of the dash. I'm the only driver and user of the vehicle right now so it isn't a problem but I don't think it is very tidy.

Thanks for the idea. I will have to take a closer look at that hole... I didn't think that it was going to work, but maybe it will.
