Getting ready to wire in 2 USB’s on the dash and was wondering if there was an easily assessable switch (and fused) 12v source in the radio area on a 2017?
Search did not seem to come up with anything.

Thanks

I’m doing the same thing on my 2013. My plan is just to splice in to the accessory power plug or cigarette lighter. under the head unit.

I’m thinking I will splice the wireless charger power feed at this point..
It’s not something I use, so will have no load on it.
I do hate splicing factory wiring though.

How are guys with a cool box center console running power to new USB ports on the backside of the console for rear seat passengers?

hopefully today - I can dig into the FSM and wiring diagrams to come up with a good target. I am trying not to run a million wire into the cab but may end up with a separate circuit for the dash area from a dedicated fuse box.
Right now I am only adding 2 USB's to power dash top devices mounted on the gamiviti panel, but that can always expand. but I will have 4 ports as long as the sockets are ok (I am iffy on the amazon socket quality.... but we will see)

Mockup of the panel before I powder coat it

I stared at the wiring diagram for a while, then stared at the wires, then the diagram... then got scared and just ran a wire through the firewall. I didn't switch it, but would be easy enough to add a relay under the hood for that purpose though I like that port on the dash to be always hot actually. But I was concerned I'd overload something, and it's just not worth the risk to me so I just bypassed all the stock stuff, I find myself charging a dead ipad, phone, sometimes a GPS and all at the same time from the same spot, and that's more than I think a tap in the factory harness should do. At least IMO, I'm no EE, I just sleep better this way.

I definitely wouldn’t tap into an existing circuit for more than a trigger for a relay that gets the circuit power from the battery directly. I’m always concerned that leaving circuits like these powered all the time could risk draining the battery. But I would also prefer to have them triggered by accessory mode rather than ignition mode. That said, the cigarette lighter circuit would probably be perfectly safe to use if you aren’t using the lighter outlet for anything.

I am looking at triggering a relay in the engine bay actually.. Fused as well under the panel, that is not awful to access in the field with a trim tool.
