Considering buying a pair of clear turn signal housings. My rig is black, and the amber/orange reflector in the OEM housings has always bugged me. Would prefer clear on black vs. orange/clear/black. Is this a huge life problem? No, but since I shattered my driver's side housing I figured I would check this off the list.

That being said, I believe I'm running up against a legal risk of some sort, where that amber color is required on US vehicles.

If thats true, does installing switchbacks in the front turn signal location solve that problem? Thanks for any advice.

Side-facing retroreflectors and lights are required for US vehicles. "These side-facing devices make the vehicle's presence, position and direction of travel clearly visible from oblique angles."* That being said many folks (including me) have changed their front corner lights to clear. It's up to you.

It is a federal requirement to have either an amber lens or amber bulb.
