Does anyone know how to change the climate control from Fahrenheit to Celsius? Same for the digital odometer???? I managed to change one setting under "general" settings to show km instead of miles however nothing had changed on anybody the displays.

Thanks for any feedback.

I think maybe its done in the general setup procedure on the head unit: Push setup button and hold down while turning headlights off and on 3 times quickly and it should enter setup mode.

No luck. I went to the dealer and they said they need to link up a computer and update he cars software. Also told me that they have to replace the entire NAV unit in order for it to work in Europe.

Is the Nav DVD based or hard drive. DVD would be an easy swap I would think. Hard drive could be done, but you need a the actual European system to clone the hard drive. Cant be too hard.

it's a HDD. i would not know where to start re cloning, but i do know that the dealer insists that they replace the entire head unit as the one i have has XM radio and loads of other options i can not use/access.

I take no responsibility for the following. Works on pretty much everything I have ever had from pcs, macs, directv dvrs, other dvrs, security survellance systems and ipods. Find the hard drive with the europe maps remove it. Id recommend buying a new drive exact same specs (should be cheap) attach both drives to a MAC and then use super duper software (free) to clone the drive. Pretty simple and straight forward. Ask me any questions Id be glad to help.

that's brilliant! not to worry, you are wholly indemnified!! so all i need to do is get my hands on a euro LC200 HDD, copy it, and use it in-place of the current one, wherever it is located (any idea??)

thanks a lot for all this info, i am grateful

Toyota has a pretty efficient assembly and parts supply so Id expect its product lines and parts to be universal throughout the range of LCs but YMMV. Its not a big gamble. A new hard drive (same spec) should cost you about a 100 bucks just make sure its the exact same all the way through. (Size, adapter, storage, rpms, voltage etc. Pretty simple and basic stuff) The hard drive should be in a semi accessible place behind or inside the NAV unit. Having no idea what one looks like from behind Id recommend getting help from a someone that works on the insides laptops or has the ability to disassemble an iPhone or ipad.
Good luck

Been reading up on your project and I cant get a definitive answer whether the nav system is DVD or HDD based. I know the new 2013s are hard drive based but am unsure of pre 2013. Youre probably going to have to check what you have before you do anything? Heres a diagram to help ya out.

Thank you again. Mine is 100% HDD.
Brilliant info you dug up

Just an idea - because I have to deal with TLC from all around the world (and spec levels) what I have done is had a Tawain company make me a head unit ( you can buy them online also - mine just comes per-set with my company logo on boot up)

It's an Anroid based system with 3G and preloaded with IGO and google maps (with the 3G you can do the moving satellite images). You can also out a hacked garmin and unlocked map and use that also. I even play angry birds on mine when I'm stuck in traffic.

They cost around $400 if you want I can get you more info.

What!? Thats awesome. Pics Pics PLease. Id love google maps

do you have access he the Navigation ECU part number?

thanks

hi,
i've finaly completed my research and it turns out that there is a DVD (update) one can use to update the HDD Navi system with all needed Euro/Russian/Mid-East info.

anyone know where i can find this? i presume the DVD reader in our US models is for US region only, or is it able to read other regions?

thanks a lot in advance for any advice/support

The HDD Nav system in my 2013 here in the US cannot be updated with a DVD like previous Nav systems.

It must be updated with a Propritary USB stick which remains in the possession of the dealer.

I purchased an update in August this year and I received a card with a key code on it and a bar code. Dealer had to order the right USB adapter for the Land Cruiser, use TecHStream, type in my key code and then proceed with the update.

I don't think anything can be updated through the DVD drive anymore.

FYI

you are 100% correct! :bounce: what dealer can get me this USB, both sparks and the dealer i bought in from in San Antonio have NO clue about such USB update? i've found in the last hour that one can either use a "web update" or an "update tool" (key) which i presume is the USB you are referring to.

how much has even been updated with our software in the 2013's, they are only a year old, correct? Does it cost money to have the dealer update our software?

The system does NOT work in Europe and i need to update with Euro update in order for it to work as i have imported a US spec car to Switzerland.
