What years do swing out latching tailgate doors fit?

I read where it's up to mid 70's or is it later like 80-82 that needs mods?

What would a good set be worth? I'd like to do something like this only with the split doors on the bottomo as well.

IIRC, '74 was the last year for the saloon doors.

That picture you have is a set of custom doors made by Paul Decker. They never came that way from the factory.

The lower doors were until 74. The abulance doors (the top half in that picture) were 75+

I think if you had doors that were split on the top have and the lower section, you'd get a lot of rattling and poor latching. I really like that pic of Paul Decker's doors. The full lower tailgate probably keeps things very stiff and tight.

Good luck if you tackle it and post up pics.

Oh yeah and the lower doors should fit all tubs up to '83 with some tweaking like drilling new holes for the extra hinge on each side. The edge of the tub might also be formed a little differently on the shorty doors than on the ambulance doors, but I can't remember for sure on that.

i had the same setup on my 69 with those half upper doors used a 76 top and 2 rear doors and it sucked . went back to the upper tailgate and dont look back still have them doors dont know why good luck

The 74 and earlier split bottom doors open left side first and starting in 75 that switched to right side first. You would have to open both doors on top to open one on the bottom or modify the bottom doors to match the top.
