Hello!

Our 1HDT engine block is broken (oil pan and connecting rods too) caused probably by camshaft bearings seized).
As the 1HDT engine is very difficult to find now, would it be possible to install a HZ block instead with new crankshaft and connecting rods.
Parts numbers of the two blocks and crankshaft seem to correspond.
Somebody as already experienced this solution of swapping HZ block on a 1HDT engine?
Help really appreciated.

You'll probably get better answers in the diesel section. But, to my knowledge... the block itself is identical between the 1HZ and 1HDT. (without pistons, rods, etc.)

Yes, the block and crank are the same, but 1HZ block wont have oil feed and oil return ports drilled and tapped for the turbo.

Conrods, wrist pins, and pistons are specific to each engine.
