Hi All,

As referred over here by Colorado Land Cruisers.

Anyway, looking for a 100 +/- mile offroad tour of ghost towns/mines in your area. Looking to do this next April.

Any advice would be most welcome.

Thanks in advance

Welcome! Probably the most popular area with the most "ghost" mining towns is in and around the San Juan Mtns of southwest Colorado. Silverton is about in the middle of this area and there are numerous towns like Ironton and Animas Forks that are easy drives to reach and fun to explore. I would suggest picking up one of the popular 4WD books written for exploring the "ghost" towns around the state. See which towns and areas look most appealing and set your mind on exploring that area.
Do you have anything in particular in mind?

You won't be doing the San Juans or most Colorado mountain ghost town tours in April. It's usually mid-late May at the earliest when those passes are clear of snow...even later this year.

Well that is certainly true there are many lower areas that should be open like Ironton and Animas Forks. Stick with the Four Corners area which is largely snow free year around. If your a FB user check out the group Ghost Towns Yesterday and Today.
