I have an RJ70 Bundera with standard for/aft sliding seats. I acquired another vehicle with suspension seats in it with the intention of cutting the floor out and welding it into the RJ70. On inspecting the body of the RJ70 I noted the the sub floor nuts and reinforcing (under body) was the same for each vehicle. all that needs to be done to allow the suspension seat bases to be mounted is to grind off the mounts for the regular sliding mounts and drill one hole in the floor wehere the underbody nut is located. and then you have factory suspension seat bases. I was very surprised when I found it myself, so get under your truck and have a look for yourself.

I have since confirmed this a on a mates FJ73 so have a look and we have just saved everyone a heap of work

cheers

I was under the BJ74 snooping around after ACT 2006, and...

The BJ74 non suspension tub is not so lucky. It does have the outboard captive nut on the bottom that is used for either seat base, however the inside mounted captive nut is not there. The re-enforcing is, and the second layer has a hole where you would drill, however you would have to weld a nut on the bottom, or simply use a not captive nut for the bottom. Small detail, however salient for clarities sake.

I plan on having the entire floor of my BJ74 line-x'd, so will have to investigate and see about doing this mod before it goes in. I would want to ensure the 3" rearward movement of my seats is maintained too.

I've got suspension seats in my FJ73, fat bastard must have owned it for 300,000km before me, the floor was cracked around both rear bolt holes!

A lot of them do that inc mine, I think it was from a combo of loose bolts and worn out suspension.

I would love to put at least a drivers suspention seat in but then I would never know ( because too comfy) if I was breaking things

You can lock them out too - I like them for on road driving, but off road I always lock 'em up. They bounce around pretty good in rough terrain.

I was never all THAT impressed with the ones in my 70, but the ones in my 74 work WAY better. Guess the 70's were sacked even before I bought it in '93.

Cut the rib; drill new holes in the floor board and install the suspension seat.

You will be glad you did.

The mod. took me about an hour.

My 1986 BJ73 had the rib that I cut out to add bj70 suspension seats. My floor also had the capture nuts already welded into the floor and they were only covered by some of the factory floor liner stuff. It was a pretty easy swap on mine. Some pics from when I swapped the plastic floor to carpet.
