I have had my Land Cruiser for 6 months and have spent much time trying to figure out my ultimate suspension. When I first bought my LC I was sure I was going to order the OME BP-51s (Im a huge fan of OME). But my gut was telling me something was off about them and I withheld my purchase. I saw the thread where everyone was having trouble with the clunking noise. Then after putting my KO2s/RW wheels I was a second a way from ordering the Icons with CDCs, but I saw a post in the classified section of someone upgraded from Icon Stage 5 to Fox and saying the Fox's drive much better than the Icons ever did:

For awhile I thought I would just stick to stock suspension and not have to deal with high maintenance parts. I started changing my mind wanting something that makes me say OMG every time I drive over a big bump. I like the system Fox uses to set their compression but it only adjusts stiffness 20% up. Icons go 4 clicks down and 6 clicks up. They also just came out with a 3.0 series coil over kit for the Tundra and I was hoping they would come out with one for the LC. The Icons are digressive shocks whereas the Fox's are progressive, Icons lift the vehicle 2.5" and Foxes will lift 2". Digressive sounds like it would be better for the street but these things are all over my head.

I don't want to start a brand war but want to order a good set and not have any regrets upgraded from stock or not ordering the best one for my needs. Its an expensive purchase for me but if it does what it is designed to do I imagine I will be more than happy.

In terms of handling, I am happy with the way the LC handles stock with KDSS but would love for it to handle bumps/road irregularities much better.

my slightly biased take - Icons' make my 200 feel sportier.... yet utterly planted..... but the digressive nature is a bit "crips" on light slower impacts..... but at speed, it's amazing. With the new tundra 3.0's avail you might want to consider the tundra arm front conversion and the 3.0 coilovers to get that.... and then their CDC 2.5 rear.... if you're really interested in going all -in !

I had OME's on my 80 which is obviously a very different rig but I found didn't enjoy them and ended up with SLEE's / ADS setup and learned the lesson on high quality shocks on a truck....I've built many Audi's and Merc's with coilovers etc so I like that "feel", perhaps more then most.

that said I did drive a new Raptor on Sunday and those Fox shocks are certainly amazing in that rig.... but I suspoect it's a part of the overall package.

That's a great idea! Are there any downsides about going with the Tundra arm front conversion?

Update: Talked with Icon, they recommended against this and sticking to their 2.5 system. They felt there was nothing to be gained. Only in the most extreme environments would it make a difference according to them.

I think the extra travel is tangible on road ( especially jumping railroad tracks!) and I like the wider stance....but have yet to wheel it hard. I do agree that unless you're going to pre-run a ton or do long fast fireroads etc the 3.0 will be overkill..... on the tundra kit the only downside I can think of it that it limits the rim options in the aftermarket for the most part...and cost of the extra parts...Carl at just diff's was great to work with and made it a one-order kit however.
