I am preparing for a full carpet replacement and have started in the back of the truck. As you can see I have what I call "surface rust". Not that it matters but this is primarily from hunting, wet dogs, waders, etc.. Nothing leaking on vehicle.

So, I'm questioning what the proper path forward is. Plan is for sound deader/fat mat and then new carpet which arrives on tuesday so want to address this prior to installation obviously.

Do I ...

1. Sand each of these spots down, prime and paint
2. Spray with a rust inhibitor, paint
3. Sand, prime and paint
4. You get the idea..

Any help appreciated.

And.. oh yeah, i have all the parts for a nav delete and new stereo so any pointers here on anything to take care of prior to that undertaking appreciated. Current sub is toast!

Sand, prime and paint of course. Everything else would be sweeping the rust under the mat.
It's flat enough that it should be quiet easy with a wire brush and an angle grinder
