I'll feel a little stupid posting this but thought it might help others out, so with reluctance here it goes. For almost two years now I've had a 'clunk'. Greased drivelines and u joints generously, over and over. Double checked all bolts and nuts associated with lift and diff drop, to the point of even reinstalling the lift and the diff drop! Thunk still there so I figured the steering rack was going on me, I replaced the only replaceable bushing on the rack that and that didn't change anything. Thunk still there. A thought came to mind, I read on MUD a few years ago when I put my first lift on my first 80 that if you overtighten the poly bushings on the shocks they can 'squeek'. I decided to loosen the bushings on the top of the front shocks (where the noise was coming from) and viola, just like that my thunk/squeek is gone. The noise only happened as the suspension cycled, accelerating from a stop or fairly hard braking to a stop. Enjoy. That's it.
