Just cut these from the running board flare caps. Look decent to me. Not perfect, but I like em. I just didnt like that little tag from the flare hanging down once I took the running boards off.

I've done it also, it gives it an instant look of some lift, or atleast less to drag the ground
I did something similar but cut the endcaps to make mini mud flaps with a little more aggresive look
