Sun Visor Interchangeability Search (1 Viewer)

OK. There has to be another visor that'll bolt in. I've begun browsing Ebay and so far the 2000 Mustang looks pretty close. Same mount for pivot and looks to be about the 1 5/8" hole center needed. Snap-in shaft is about 13 1/2" from pivot where it needs to be also. Overall length is about 2" too short though. It'll probably work though.

Anyway, with enough people searching maybe a near exact mach can be found.

'94-'96 Lincoln Town Car looks awful close as well. I think my friends is a '96. If so I'll measure.

I found some out of a 95 maxda mpv and they work great, color matched perfectly too. The mounting holes were a little wider but It fit in the stock location without drilling any new holes, just angle the screws in a tad, not even noticeable. It does not use the same retainer clip location however, I just removed mine completely and going clip-less with no issues.

I'm gonna try to pick up a '94-'04 Mustang visor when I can get to a junkyard. I'm pretty sure even the clip is in the right place.

Here's some pics, I used photo bucket since I couldn't get them to load directly to mud. I intend to find or fab up a clip of some sort in the future, and make a cover to conceal where the old one was but so it is working fine as it is. I have been over some of the roughest roads in sw colorado and haven't had a single issue with this visor.


The top visor is the MPV and the bottom is the FJ80

Jackpot! The body shop down the street has a '94 Mustang. I pulled the visor. Fits perfectly! Mount is the same and bolts in using your existing screws. Snaps in the latch fine. I'll post photos when I get home to look up my ftp PW. '94-'04 Mustang visors should all be the same. The're just under 2" shorter OAL so your losing a bit of coverage but if you replace the pair it'd be hard to notice they're not factory. I just bought a pair of tan ones on Ebay for $60 shipped.

I thought I would contribute to this thread seeing as this visor topic is very universal. Seeing the images posted by Summiteer above, it appears that the later model 80's visor mount may be slightly different than the earlier models (mine is a 1993) as you'll see.

A junkyard search yielded a promising set of dual visors from a 1994 Chrysler New Yorker. The mount position widths are the same and the color is a near perfect match, however I had to get creative when it came to actually bolting them up as the mount holes are 180 degrees apart and the spring post is too wide for the 80 hole.

I ended up having to drill new holes for each mounting point, but the end result is working so far. Only time will tell if they will hold up, but I like them so much that I would be happy to make a custom spacer to improve their mounting situation if necessary, but for now, they're working great and I would highly recommend them!

Another note: I found several sets of the proper year Mustang visors referenced above and was planning to go that route, but I was dissatisfied with the lack of decent color match and the loss of coverage as you can see in the image below with the black (mustang) and grey (80) visors.

There's also a visor I found from 1992 Nissan Quest that looked very promising, but I never tried it. You can see it compared to the 80 visor in the image below, which shows the 80 visor with a similarly, but darker colored, standard visor on top of it. I suspect the spring post on this visor may not work with the 80 post hole, but it may be worth a shot for those still seeking a solution.

The end result is a dual set of extendable visors with a lot of coverage that hold any position through their full range of motion, which I couldn't be happier about since my '08 Explorer in the background of several pics won't even do that! LOL

They look a bit crooked in the last pic because of my camera angle

How are these New Yorker visors holding up for you? Have you located any other replacements?

They're excellent! I would still recommend them. I never looked for additional replacements after mounting these.
