Hi everyone!

First: purists close this thread now!

I was just wondering if anyone has ever converted an FJ40 to suicide doors. I think it'd be cool to see an fj40 with those doors.

You may be the first. With enough time and money, anything is possible. First challenge is the A pillars are open on the front side for hinge support access. The B pillars are not. John

take the doors off and no one will notice .

I do not think the rear has enough to support the weight of those doors opening even with the hard top on, and the top hinge would have to be significantly lower making the problem worse or attach to the hardtop, also not a super solid mounting point.

First post and asking about suicide doors on a 40? Possibly a troll....

You should just go right ahead and make gullwing doors. Maybe you can find a used flux capacitor on a Delorian forum. Alternately, you could just weld them shut and get in and out through the window..............

Yeah, like a NASCAR FJ40 .

How about Dutch Doors? You just take the top half during the summer, sorta like half doors taken to the next level! (smoeones probably done this one :frown:.)

LOL.

Does the OP mean "suicide doors" like an FJC? Not really suicide doors so much as doors that give you easy access to the rear seats... I'm envisioning a neat stretched 40 application.

What inkpot said ^, I think it would be cool but the body at the B pillar doesn't lend itself to make this easy...

wow this thread got a lot more responses than I expected...

My original intention for this thread was only to find out if someone had done it before, not because I intended to do it myself even though I actually like the idea but I still don't own an FJ40. I'm saving money for it though, it's been my dream car for quite some time now but there aren't many here in Chile and being in college I don't have much income...

If I do get an FJ40 I'll definitely give the idea some more thought and post pictures if I eventually do it.
