Toyota transmissions and usually pretty hardy and ive had several that had run out of fluid due to leaks that weren't repaired and all they needed was fluid to get back on the road. did they even try to replace the line and refill the trans to see what happens?

Probably ten minutes after he signed the paperwork for the 200. It sounds like they tried to make him happy instead of getting sued. Easier to take a loss on the 200 from the dealerships perspective then to try and defend what would likely be the losing end of litigation. If both parties are satisfied then life goes on.

Sounds like you were at least halfway interested in a new Land Cruiser anyways, so it seems it worked out well for everyone involved. Congrats on the new truck!
