I'm rebuilding my F engine 2-bbl. carburetor (December 1970, 21100-60201) and upon removing the air horn assembly and turning the lower part of the carb upside down, I discovered that I'm missing the pump discharge weight and ball (this carburetor pre-dates the use of a spring under the stopper). The Keyster rebuild kit from Cruiser Outfitters includes the ball, but not the discharge weight. Is it possible the weight and ball are stuck inside the bore? What's the best way to tell? I sprayed some carb cleaner in the bore but it doesn't appear to have loosened anything up.

If it turns out the parts are missing I have a May 1972 parts carburetor I can disassemble - it should be of the same design w.r.t. the accelerator pump discharge. Hopefully it has the parts I need.

Any help or insight would be greatly appreciated.

I disassembled my spare May 1972 (the month of my last day in high school :)) carburetor and discovered it still had the pump discharge weight, so I'm good to go. Onward with the re-build, my third so far. Pinhead's 7-part youtube video has been a great help, even though it's for a later carburetor with more "stuff" on it. But that will help with my next re-build - for my '84 FJ60.
