Stupid question - where can I get decent zip ties?

I need a bunch of zip ties but those I've gotten have been poor quality and break on use or after a few weeks in the sun.

i can tell you harbor freight is NOT where you should go...

(not that i'm surprised, just surprised at how disappointed i am)

ohhh... fastenal... cool, good idea.

Napa or imsco (I think) have nylon MF zipties. Tell them what you need. Also there are some good electrical supply housesnear candeleria/ giraffe.

Walker Electronics in Albuquerque has a good selection of high quality zip ties.

thanks for the tips!

I've bought Panduit zip ties that are coated metal zipties. If you have a heavy load to tie up outside and only need a handful, can't go wrong with these ones; truly overkill for sure.

I was at a NAPA store (in Texas) yesterday getting some cables made for the Albright contactor conversion on my winch and noticed that they carry a huge assortment of high-quality (and expensive) zip ties. Some were rated to hold 120 lbs.

... the Albright contactor conversion on my winch

... later... OK, I found the thread. Are you using the DC88P (Albright from Superwinch p/n 90-14452 or the SW202 (HD Albright from Warn, p/n 34971)?

The Superwinch 90-14452, after a bunch of research on Pirate and etc. The Warn 34971 is for a constant-duty industrial winch; no doubt it would be awesome but it is twice the price and I fear too large to fit under the solenoid cover. The Superwinch one barely fits under my (new-style six-pin controller) cover as it is.

MMC (McMaster Carr) carries the nice UV resistant cable ties in different sizes and lb ratings with the SS metal tang. Been using them for 25-years and they're the best nylon zip tie.

Many choices: McMaster-Carr

The ones I like: "B" style smooth body: McMaster-Carr

I seem to recall getting a few from Del City. They have been fine. I bought some little guys recently from Lowes that were junk. Every tang breaks off.

Greg, if you need a few I have a bunch.

where did you find them?

sorry for the late reply. Summit electrical (or any other large electrical supply house) has these and many other types of zip ties.
