Stupid Q: LC200 frame based on what? (2 Viewers)

LOL! No, they were under the frame. Wouldn't have liked the technique with any other of my vehicles, but with the LX it doesn't bother me.

Ironic then that the LX570 is a URJ201 while a landcruiser is a URJ200. As well as lexus not existing in a bunch of markets that the landcruiser is sold in.

this isn't the same sales person telling another mudder that the HE has different fender lines and factory running boards won't fit now is it?

The LX is based off of the LC not the other way around. The first LX in 1994 was quite literally just an LC with L badges and more side cladding.

It’s the same truck. The exact same thing.

You can get an LC with AHC and super nice leather and interior and all that stuff in other markets where they don’t have LXs etc.

Many of the parts are interchangeable. In fact most all major parts aside from body cladding and suspension are as is.

In fact if you really wanted to you could add AHC to an LC or KDSS to an LX.

The LC sure as heck isn’t a “base trim” around the world. Try this. Get on Instagram and check out the LCs in the UAE or in Russia.

Agree. I exported a GXR from UAE however they are very few/far from the fully loaded versions we have here since 2008. LC with AHC and nice leathers are close to LX570

Boy have we struck a nerve. Touchy subject. If I know anything about how engineering companies are run...

The latest generation LC to LX is not based off of one or the other. They are sister vehicles that utilized the same core platform. That are then upfitted to meet their specific missions.

Upon inception of the generation, there were requirements that the platform would support both vehicles variants, with potentially their own respective performance targets. The shared platform was therefore designed from the very start to accommodate both variants. Engineering companies of this size don't figure this out later. It's generally baked in from the very start.

Being sister platforms, they very likely benefited from each others priorities. e.g. the LX is more durable than it needs, the LC more refined than it needs to be. In the end, we all win, and with a tailored choice of the same impressive vehicle.

Or... one could say Toyota has 200 series platform that marketing applies different badges, trim levels, engines, door configurations, and transmissions to depending upon perceived demand of the individual sales markets...

They may share common parts but they are NOT the same truck. LX570 AHC suspension is totally different than LC and inside is a different story.

I’ve owned 6 200s. 3 LXs and 3 LCs. I’ve been on this 200 forum 10 and a half years. I’m familiar with the subject. I don’t mean literally the same thing.

Same frame. Engine. Same dimensions.
Many many parts interchangeable.

LCs are available with the exact same AHC as an LX. Just not sold here.

This all started when a guy tried to say the LC was based off of the LX. It’s really inconsequential at this point.

Adding a bit of levity to this thread..

A coworker used to get annoyed with my 'It's the same vehicle' comments, so I explained it like this:

"If you saw me tomorrow and I was wearing a tuxedo, would you say I was a different person?"

The answer was obviously 'no.'.
"Well that's the difference between a LC and a LX. The LX is the same person, he's just wearing a tuxedo."

Not exactly true...you will be wearing tuxedo + Nike air pumps (aka hydraulic suspension) + your jaw will be locked open (front fascia).

Exactly. The whole suspension setup is so different between the two, I’m not sure how folks claim they are the same. It a huge difference, and also haven’t seen LX with base suspension?
I’m aware LC comes with AHC in a super limited number. I’ve both LX and LC GXR

Boingy springs and pressurized N2 bladders aside you need to get over the fact that they are the same vehicle. Same frame, same differentials, same driveline, same lower control arms, same body etc.

Each suspension has its pros and cons but that doesn’t make one vehicle superior to another.
