I've got a new problem with my 97 450LX w/SC, I've got an occasional stumble that started only at light throttle settings, now frequent and in all conditions. The first unique symptom I could isolate is that the stumbling is perfectly correlated with sound of the fuel pump cutting out (the whistle either stops or changes tone in sync with the the little little "bumps" from the stumble). Just changed out the fuel pump itself (without doing any diagnosis; wanted to do this anyway), and no change, so I've got more work to do.

My real question is if anyone local in the San Diego area of Southern California might be able to recommend a good Cruiser mechanic who could tackle this. For the moment I'm short on troubleshooting time (and always short on talent) and I kind of need this thing up and running now. I know I've met at least one local guy in North County who frequents here.

I'd certainly take any troubleshooting tips too, but I've got a lot of reading to do on my own based on the wealth of info here. Currently wondering about the fuel pressure regulator, and have the fuel filter but it's "impossible" to change. And I'm just starting to read through the mountain of EFI posts - guess an electrical problem could easily explain the correlated sound and stumbling very well too. Will volt-meter a little tomorrow when there's daylight.
