Debugging idle issues/misfires, I've determine I've got zero compression on the #2 cylinder. Popping the valve cover, it's pretty clear that there is a stuck valve in the open position on the #2 cylinder (I believe the intake valve).

Any suggestions, hints, or gotchas with fixing this? What should I expect pulling this apart (this will be my first attempt at a valve job).

on occasion with small engines i've lubed the top of the valve stem and then taped the center of the valve with a brass drift and got lucky for it to pop back up.

Then i sea foamed through the intake for 30 min to remove varnish/gunk build up. I was also very careful to check for valve/valve guide wear.

on other cases i had to pull the head, remove valve, inspect seats/guides and the valve it's self.

could be as simple as crud/carbon gunking up the valve. Could be a seat, could be an issue with valve or guide.
