My 1984 FJ60 is stuck in 4wd. Front drive is engaged. 4wd light is on. I have tried going in reverse which usually works to disengage the front drive. Any thoughts? thanks, Mike

Jack up one wheel. That will release the pressure. The driveshafts are now tight under torsion. Try not to use 4WD on pavement- otherwise this can happen

I usually just creep forward at idle speed with a fair bit of pressure upwards on the transfer case lever towards H2..

If you have the vacuum switched transfer case I have no advice (what a terrible design choice)

Unlock the front hubs (if they aren't already) and 'rock' the truck in 1st and R with slight pressure on the 4wd shifter to 2wd. There's torsion on the Tcase gears.
