MY 2007 has this flooding and/or gas odor when i leave truck idling with AC on while i have to step away and leave dog inside on hot day. I have a fresh new OEM EVAP system in the back above spare. I have a new fuel pump and some sort of regulator (all installed by dealer in US) with OEM parts. Still smell. Nothing out of gas cap. Never over fill at pump. There must be a remaing old item thats poorly functioning during these hot conditions. Flooding seems unrelated to smells too. I have to step away 30 to 60 minutes to restart.

Vapor lock is typical on 06 and 07s (with VVTIs). Caused by boiling gas in the gas tank.

IS there a solution? Perhaps gas smell liked to a dying ignition coil? Thanks
Unlikely an ignition coil failure, more related to fuel temp and pressure in the tank. Solution is to lower the temperatures in the tank by effectively insulating it. Primary source of heat is the exhaust pipe running very close with the gas tank.

OEM is clear: Do not prolong idle. Doing so can damage CAT.

I'd looking at CAT's, ECT (Engine coolant temp) and fuel trims as steps first in diagnosing.

I have found, when also else as it should be, and I get excessive fuel smell. Where it is not venting out EVAP or gas cap. A new set of Denso coil "may" eliminates excessive fuel smell. These weak coils are usually a result of excessive heat. A road test clue: Jump on open HWY, starting from about 30 MPH. Keep it floored/full throttle, 60, 70, 80, 90 MPH. Feel for any hesitation even tiny bit!. We want a nice smooth acceleration. Any hesitation, is a clue of weak coils. Again this is provided all else as it should be.

Also:

Make sure if ECT hit 200F plus 03-07 or 190F plus 98-02 :

Thanks. Radiator is under two years old OEM. Spark plugs checked prior to leaving Nicaragua. CAT alert a new one and appreciated. Did not consider that. Makes sense. Where fuel smell is venting at these hot moments is a mystery. Passed CA smog within past 12 months. All systems related to EVAP should be good.

As for ignition coils, i will likely replace all 8 soon. One more thing to do to complete rebuild of truck, besides engine and tranny.

Will look closely at that steel underplate modification as it relates to fuel line and heat retention.

Per water temp guage, coolant never overheats.

Seems we are narrowing down causes of my troubles. To not excess idle while running both AC units with a large dog inside should not be a repeat issue.

Thank you.

Water temp gauge is near useless. I watch through tech stream. Using a BlueDriver or OBDIImx. They're easy way watch ECT, FT and much more.

I just clean the fins on a radiator, the was installed 2 year ago, in a 200 series. It just driven in the city, by a soccer mom..

Yeah idiot lites really. Good idea to get something useful. I also washed radiator fins. Used a specialty spray. Light spray from hose.
