My drain plug for the transfer case is rounded:censor: and I can't remove it. I have tried a pipe wrench and taking a file and trying to fix the edges to where a socket can catch it. I don't know how to weld so welding another bolt to the plug is not an option at them moment. Will JB weld or JB weld kwik be strong enough to use to attatch another bolt to the bottom to get it off? Thanks

I would just take it to a welder and have him weld a nut on it. Any of your neighbors have a welder? You could try grinding a slot in it to use a large screwdriver, but it likely that you will be able to put enough torque on it to turn it...

I see you are in the service, is there a "hobby shop" on base? If so there is a good chance you may find a welder and someone who knows how to use it.

The only person I know that has a welder is out with the students at lake of the Ozark doing water operations today. I am moving in a couple days so no more work for me. I do get to make a couple more jumps on Wednesday from CH47 and get some jumpmaster duties. I just filled my transmission back up with fluid. Going to drive over to the local weld shop and have them weld a nut on there for me. I appreciate the help. I just had some JB weld in the garage. I wasn't sure if it would work under torque. Hobby shop here doens't have a welder.. Thanks for all the help!

I tried my vice grips but that wasn't working. Drove to the local weld shop and had them weld a nut onto the drain plug. Good to go. I appreciate everyones advice.

First, get on the net and order a new drain plug now. Than spray it with a chemical loosener such as pb-blaster ect, let it sit overnight or a couple of nights until your new plug gets here. Since the nut is ruined already, use a chisel and hammer to rotate out the nut until it is loose, creating your own little ridges in it as you loosen it. place the chisel around the outer diameter of the plug, The banging impact will help alot in loosening it Once it has broken free use your channel locks to finish backing it off
