The manifold-side where EGR pipe mounts is stripped at one mounting point. The PO had placed a nut on top of the manifold with a makeshift stud and a nut below to affix the EGR down pipe.

I know the proper thing to do would be to pull the manifold and use a timesert, but the rats nest of vacuum lines in this smogged truck is daunting.

Is what the PO did that criminal? Dare I commit the sins of the PO? I really don’t want to pull the whole thing. Any suggestions appreciated.

Ughh. I'd prefer it to be fixed the right way.
 
Yes me too.. I’m even considering removing that drain for the block just below. That would allow me to drill and place a timesert.
Seems more tolerable than removing the manifold.
