I'd either helicoil it or put some filler in there with a stud

To install a helicoil you need to drill and tap a larger hole, but you install the coil and that allows you to use a bolt of the original size. If you just drill and tap to a larger bolt size, you will also have to drill out the hole for the bolt in the manifold and you may have clearance issues with the bolt head. I've had good success using Helicoils. I have aftermarket aluminum heads for a ford engine where all the tapped holes have stainless helicoils installed at the factory for improved thread strength.

depending on the location of the stripped hole, gluing in a stud may interfere with installing the manifold.

Often you can get by with using a bit longer bolt.......

I had that happen about 10 years ago. It was bolt right in the nook at the firewall so my options were limited. Went to ACE hardware and explained my dilemma. He set me up with an SAE bolt that was just slightly larger. Was able to tap the old hole and it worked great.

tap and new bolt or stud whatever you want

helicoil kit

it's best that you repair it.you can actualy buy a kit that comes w/a drill bit, installer and a few helicoil.apply a small amount of red loctite to stay in place.an angle drill would be perfect to handle this job. john:D
