stock shock mount location (1 Viewer)

I'm just wondering what are the pro's and con's of having the bottom of the rear shocks mount on the axle housing versus the u-bolt plate.

Mounting on the axle housing seems like it might be a little safer of a location, but I doubt it makes a real difference.

And mounting on the u-bolt plate will give the shock a little extra length.

I might be getting new shocks and I could mount them in either stock location. So I'm just wondering where the best place is so I can measure properly.

pro-one less thing to hang below the axle, longer shock possibly allowing more travel before bottoming the shock.
