I was not selected for a job that I wanted very badly. I want to scream.

It would have been 50% field work, some kayaking/white water rafting.

I already went for a run this morning but, I think I need to go for another and a long bike ride.

Have you ever had one foot out the door at a job, then found out you have to stay?

    Right there with you brother.

Had a sweet engineering job lined up, nailed the interview, was down to the $$$. It would have been a cool job, prob 70% of the time on the production floor, I would have been 1 of 2 engineers. Unfortunately I was working with a recruiter, I don't think he was forthcoming on their salary ceiling or my salary floor.

    Back to cube hell.

    Yep...but then I realized I didn't "have" to do anything I didn't want, so I quit.

Tell me about it. I'm in cube hell too. If I didn't have a mortgage, 2 car payments, and a wedding coming up in 6 weeks I would be so outta here. The day I leave cubical hell for good will be a joyous one indeed.

Hey, you know what I just realized? It's "No Pants Wednesday" here in my office!

Then again, I work at home so it's not a problem.

Cube hell is indeed contagious. I've been in my own private hell for the past ten years.

I almost changed into my bike shorts at my desk the other day.

I guess the "other guy" hasn't accepted the offer yet, so maybe I am still in the running? Wishfull thinking, I know. I was told it was my mechanical engineering back ground that did it in for me, they wanted more civil/hydrology experience...back to school in the fall.

I hear yah. Looking on monster under engineering jobs I see way more field related jobs for CE's and Enviros than ME's. Plus the volume of jobs seems much greater for those two concentrations. Back when I was school it was opposite- EE and ME jobs were plentiful and CE's were unemployed.

My timing sucks, I'm a ME.

I don't think they'll take me back. I've tried several times.

You want to go for a ride sometime this week? Have you got your bike issues fixed?

Same story here, too. I figure if I go back to school and take some civil classes, then the ME stuff will pick up again.

Bring a screwdriver and knock down the walls of your cubicle like in Office Space.

Cubes suck, but that is stating the obvious!

I'm now in an office, but have glass door and windows into the hall and into another office. So the upgrade wasn't all that great. A little more room, barely anymore noise privacy.

Especially since my last job was telecommuting from home, so I used to be like Swank (did I just say that?) and participated in "no pants Wednesdays" at times as well. (Among even more daring versions of ahhem.."business casual")

Anyone know when the movie "Office Space" comes on cable?

I tell my sister about my "job" and the crap that goes on, she thinks I'm the main character in Office Space. I need to see that again, I only saw it once and that was before I started "living it".
