not obvious that a bike handlebar when using a blade is that critical if you wear a harness, though, or is it? Seems unlikely you'd hit your own legs. Is it more that the blade could whip sideways with a loop handle and you could hit something/somebody else?

They also use a gearbox with a 35degree angle instead of the standard 30'ish degree angle that is pretty standard. The 35 degree angled gearbox makes the unit more comfortable to operate if the operator is 5' 10" or taller.

Well that's not good news. I'm a short dude, last I checked I was 5'-7. Hmmm....

See if it "fits" you.

In reality, if the front handle is in your left hand, you right hand will be 3" higher on the FS 56 or FS 70 with the head even with the ground. It is super comfortable for taller people.

My wife finds the FS 56 and the FS 70 uncomfortable to use. In order for the cutting head to be even with the ground she has to hold up on the rear handle. It makes her arm sore after an hour or so. She is 5' 2 & 3/4" tall (don't forget the 3/4"). :D

Just got back from the dealer. I ended up with an FS 90. They had demo models of the FS 70 and 90 to try out, and you're right, the 70 was just not a good fit for a shorter guy like me.

I really wanted the Easy2Start feature that was on the FS 70, but the nifty valve train system on the 90 makes it actually VERY easy to start. I also really liked the better shaft system and interchangable heads that the 90 supports. A little more hp in the engine too.

Heading home in a bit to knock down some weeds.

when my wife asks "why???", i blame it on each and every one of you....

stihl fs 55

Question for D'Animal. Wondering if you could help out, just trying to put this trimmer fs 55 together again and the only thing left is the trigger handle. It's just not locking into place like it did. Once you squeeze the trigger it should lock. Took it apart and for the life of me, cannot figure out where the locking mechanism locks the trigger?

Thanks in advance
