Yes it will work. Many of the early 021,023 and 025's do not use the large heat shield between the muffler and cylinder.
Thank you . I have ordered the muffler. I have one more question on the 025 then I will switch to a FS 80 weed wacker problem. On the 025, what is the order in which the part numbers listed below go together on the brake handle. These are shown on page 10 of the IPL. 1127 791 7200 Sleeve 1123 792 5505 Bushing 9443 825 7130 Hollow rivet 9075 478 4155 Pan head Self Tapping Screw The way I have it assembled is the rivet is inside the sleeve and the screw goes thru the center hole in the rivet and the sleeve. I am not sure where the bushing (rubber) goes ? Can you please help. [/]
My next question is I have FS 80 weed wacker. I am not getting a spark on the plug. Can you help me figure this one out ? How do I test the ignition coil if its good or not ?

For your FS 80, take the top engine schroud off. Unplug the two small wires connected to the coil. Pull the rope and see if you have spark. If you do, the problem is in your wiring harness. If you do not, you need an ignition module. If you are the original owner and it will depend on when you bought it, it may very well have a lifetime warranty on the module.

On the FS 80 coil I see two wires , one goes to the plug and the other goes to the kill switch. I removed the one going to the kill switch and then kept the spark plug connected to the other wire and held it against the engine head and pulled the starter cord....no spark ! I have checked the ohm reading between the spark plug wire and the engine block. I get about 1400 - 1500 ohms. Any conclusions from this ? If the coil is bad do I just tell the dealer that its bad and that they need to replace it ? Will they say that they need to repair the machine , only then they will replace it ? Recently I had a KM 90 R repaired at a dealer and they said the coil was bad and charged me a lot for the coil and repair. The stihl dealer experience has not been a good one. This is the reason for my tinkering with these myself.

The lifetime warranty began on certain models in 1982.

If you are the original owner of the KM 90 and the module just died, it should have been a warranty situation. It is up to you to provide the proof of purchase of the unit to the service center. The operators manual clearly explains the warranty.

Yes a servicing dealer has to do the repair.

Thank you. I will follow and let you know how it goes. On the FS 80 if i take it to the dealer, they will probable still charge me labor which will be as much as the cost of the coil itself. But, let me try. Any advice on brake assembly for the 025 chain saw.

Depending on the date you bought it will depend on if it was covered under the lifetime parts and labor warranty or if only the part is covered under warranty or if it is out of the warranty period.

The 4112 FS 80 was built between 1976 and 1990.

The 4137 FS 80 was built between 1996 - 2010.

The lifetime warranty I mentioned is for the 4137 series.

I am not able to get oil to my saw. In the tank I see a hose. My gear turns when I spin the metal lever. How do I check for a blockage, what o ring where you talking about? I feel I am going to have to replace pump. I saw a video in Spanish. Is the access to pump under the saw? What do I need to take off to get to it? Is the pump actually just that gear and a little cylinder?
Thanks

OK I am getting up to pace here. I was lucky enough to have an issue several years ago with the plug near the muffler coming out. I was trying to remember what issue I had in the past with this saw. I have been reading a lot of the posts here. I have taken the pump out, I connected a vinyl hose to it cut out a section and low and behold the pump pumped oil. made sure the passage after pump to bar and chain was not blocked. I also removed piece that connects hose from tank to pump. Cleaned this all out put back together I turned the metal arm and still no oil coming out. Took it back apart and applied some silicone around o ring put back together and still no oil. Lastly when I had original problem several years ago never figured out how to get the metal pickup strainer back on line in tank. Is that really important and do you think the oil isse is with the o ring or something else. I made sure when I put the pump back in the hole in pump lined up with hole that leads to bar and chain.
thanks, Bruce
