Thanks for the confirmation Rob. I've read where you guys are able to Tie into to the green wire at the harness and was hoping I'd get off easy. Unfortunately that's not the case!

That green wire does go down and split a few times to all the buttons That get illuminated. That's what the picture above is showing getting 12 volts at the seat heater illumination green wire.

With any luck I'll have this thing finished up in another 40 hrs or so. :)

OK, sorry for the confusion guys. I eliminated the OEM plugs at the OEM amp because I'm replacing it with an aftermarket one. In doing so I cut the green wires which cut the loop. I tied the 2 wires going together in Pin 23 and 24 of the amp plug and that gave 12v power back to Pin 2 behind the head unit.

This being said, if Pin2 has illumination control I'm not sure why the Metra/Crutchfield harness doesn't just include the wire!

Incidentally, the voltage on Pin2 of the head unit OEM plug does not vary with the OEM rheostat/dimmer control.

Thanks to all for the help - much appreciated!

P.S. Rob if you're reading this I left two comments on your website that I'd be interested in hearing your thoughts on.

Both of the green wires read 0V when the parking lights or head lights are turned on.

The green wire at the seat heater switch shows 12V when the parking lights or head lights are on.

I had a single disc OEM player. I don't have it with me now, but here's a shot of it when I first bought it.

Did this work, taping into the seat heater illumination?

If so, what pin is it on that seat heater connector?
