Hey,
Anyone have some info on installing a stereo and CB in the stock stereo location? What are the best options for both? I've seen this done and I want to do it, but I wanted to see how difficult it would be to do at home versus taking it to a shop. I've installed some pretty complex stereo systems in the past, so I know I can do that part.

thanks,
those look pretty clean.

a couple more questions...
did you wire into the stock wiring for the stereo?
did you have to buy a double DIN adapter to get both in or did you fab up the fascia?

oh yeah, how much did the HU set you back?

Mine is the pioneer, very cool unit. I have one in my 40 series and the only time it skipped is when I slipped off of a huge bolder and broke a motor mount.

About $150.

$199 delivered from Crutchfield delivered with a steering wheel mounted remote and the wiring harness just for the Toyota.

It has the Mosfet amp with about 50 watts per channel x 4.

Forgot, it has the I-Pod controls, you just have to buy the adaptor for another $100. May as well get'er done while you have the dash out since the dash is the hardest part of the whole install as far as I concerned. Hooking up wires is easy.
Getting that dash piece on and off without snappnig it or your hand is the BITCH.

Oh, and it is not too flashy and disco.

I assume that 80 and 450 harnesses are the same, right?

I don't think so, but you can check with crutchfield.

Just enter your vehicle and they will get you the correct part!

Good luck.

Here's mine. I did it myself, you just need to modify the factory sterio mounting brackets.

that looks really nice. how much is involved in removing the dash?

It's pretty easy.. also searchable! :flipoff2:  :D

Take out the ashtray and there are two screws on the sides, in the corners. Pull out the cup holder (or pry out the slot thing if you don't have one) then there are two more screws. Then you just start pulling on it, and it will pop free. Once you can get your hand behind it you can unplug the switches.. it's not as hard as a runner or Taco where you have to pry off the panel around the heater controls.

Just a note, on mine...I did not have to modify the brackets much.

Just flaten out two small tabs so they would sit flush on the CB.

The stereo fit like it was custom made for it.

Very refreshing.
