Does anybody know if stepper motors from an '02 LX will work on an '05 LX?

Thanks

What is the part number for this motor. Cross reference it with a parts catalog online.

gotta be honest, had no idea there were stepper motors in the hundie. Where is the motor in question?
They are the motors that control the gauges. LC and LX motors are different and no one sells the ones for an LX.

I had no idea. Hopefully someone can help, might have better luck finding a part out cluster?

Clusters are visually different between 1998-2002 and 2003+ for sure. The dials are located in the same places tho, so perhaps they have the same part numbers?
Check Partsouq.com for part numbers. I do have a gauge cluster from an 02 but I can't tell you if you can use the motors from it in your 05.

Deleted irrelevant reply.

As mentioned, the stepper motors control the gauges in the dash. LC have stepper motors available online to replace yourself. LX has illuminated steppers which are not available in the aftermarket. A few companies offer to refurb your cluster for a few hundred $$ but when I asked them about the LX motors, they said that they manually disassemble and rebuild them since they cannot source them individually.

Reviving this thread....my '05 LX now has 3 out of 4 gauges out--temperature is the lone hold out. I contacted Hi-Tech Electronics in Van Nuys and they indicated that they no longer can get the parts needed for an LX gauge cluster rebuild and, as Hokie and Hi-Tech mentioned, less people are willing to rebuild them even if they could get the parts. I hated to do it, but I contacted my Lexus dealer and they said getting a new one might be possible, but they order 'direct from vendor' and they need a VIN number to even get a price (which they estimate to be $1200). Refurbished clusters seem to be rare, but I'll keep an eye out in the 100's parts forum. I'll keep searching here, but the LX gauges issue seems challenging. Any other options I'm not considering (other than manually tracking my gas use)? Thanks in advance. My progress on this vehicle is due 95% to this community!

@MongooseGA did you recently have yours rebuilt? Any pointers you could share?

Not yet, unfortunately. But the route I'll eventually take is actually quite simple. Send Tanin your cluster and $700 of your dollhairs and its a 1  job.
