Steering wheel question

I have an hdj81 that injust picked up. The aftermarket steering wheel is terrible. What are my options for an OEM replacement?

Other models? Lhd wheel?

I am not aware of any options besides finding an OEM wheel in a wrecking yard. I looked around a bunch because the leather on my wheel was toast. Ended up buying the kit here on MUD and replacing the leather on my stock wheel. I assume a LHD wheel would fit on the RHD column.

Got a period correct steering wheel from @slow95z and sent it to Craft Custom to be given the leather spa treatment. This replaces the lame JDM wheel on customer’s 81.

Bummer. Glad I bought mine back in 2018 or so! And I think it was under $200 then. That Craft Custom cover posted earlier looks pretty nice.

It’s not just a cover, it’s a full rework. They added thumb bumps as well.

There is a guy within the lightning community that is very good at doing steering wheels too maybe I'll buy a used steering wheel and send it to him

How much was the full treatment? Did they also paint the horn pad as all I have seen are grey?

Customer is grey so no issue there. This wheel was $540 but their standard no-frills leather is $360 I believe. If I ran into an issue with mismatched horn cover I would hunt down a good used or use a matching SEMS paint.
