Steering wheel bolt pitch

I took off the steering wheel on my 1972 to repair some cracks and messed up the threads on the bolt. Does anyone know the pitch of the bolt so i can get a tap and die kit to repair it? It seems most of the 12mm kits come with 12 x 1.50. Thanks in advance for any help.

I just cleaned up one on a 72 yesterday. It is a 1.25 pitch. I just used a thread file and it only took me a couple of minutes. John

Thanks Inkpot. It was pretty mangled but a 12 x 1.25 die did the trick.
